VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990 E

Some early production Rivieras received a wiring harness modification and/or a unique Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) at time of assembly. The modifications affect cluster ground wiring and compatibility.

VIN 400938-401422: Received a modified wiring harness. Refer to Figure 1. All modified harnesses have a band of red tape on the harness two inches from the IPC connector (visible with IP removed).

VIN 400938-401382: Received a cluster identified by a green sticker on the top of the unit in addition to the modified harness. These green stickered clusters will not function correctly without the modified harness. Do not transfer a green stickered cluster into a vehicle outside this VIN range.

IPC service parts are available as an exchange unit through authorized AC-Delco Service Centres. Clusters available through CANSPO are for fire and theft replacement only.

All clusters in CANSPO and Delco Exchange Centre stock will function properly in any 1990 Riviera. Green stickered clusters will be reworked when returned for repair to assure compatibility with all 1990 Rivieras and Reattas.
