WHEN A PREMIUM RADIO IS REMOVED FROM A 1982 REGAL, A HARNESS RETAINER IN BACK OF THE RADIO HAS TO BE UNFASTENED. USE A SCREWDRIVER TO OPEN THE RETAINER AS SHOWN IN FIGURES 1, 2 AND 3. ON 1978-1981 REGALS AND CENTURYS, A STRAP (PART #409797) SHOULD BE INSTALLED WHEN A PREMIUM RADIO IS REINSTALLED. THIS STRAP WILL POSITION THE WIRES SO THAT SHOULD THERE BE WATER INTRUSION, IT WILL RUN DOWN AWAY FROM THE RADIO RECEIVER. FIGURES 4 AND 5 SHOW THE STRAP PROPERLY INSTALLED FOR THE TWO DIFFERENT CONNECTOR ORIENTATIONS. WHEN A PREMIUM RADIO IS REMOVED FROM A "G" BODY VEHICLE, A HARNESS RETAINER IN BACK OF THE RADIO HAS TO BE UNFASTENED. USE A SCREW DRIVER TO OPEN THE RETAINER AS SHOWN. IF THE RADIO DOES NOT HAVE A RETAINER (PART #545249) ONE MUST BE ADDED TO SECURE THE HARNESSES, WHEN THE RADIO IS REINSTALLED.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
