FRONT SEAT CUSHION TRIM DAMAGE REPAIR PROCEDURE

SOME 1982 "G" CARS EQUIPPED WITH THE 6-WAY POWER SEAT OPTION HAVE EXPERIENCED TORN SEAT CUSHION TRIM CAUSED BY THE TOP EDGE OF THE SEAT SWITCH SUPPORT PLATE. SHOULD THIS CONDITION OCCUR, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO REWORK THE SEAT SWITCH SUPPORT PLATE BEFORE THE SEAT CUSHION TRIM IS REPLACED (SEE ATTACHED ILLUSTRATION). REWORK PROCEDURE 1.REMOVE THE SEAT SWITCH ESCUTCHEON; TWO SCREWS. 2.DISENGAGE THE POWER SEAT CONNECTOR. 3.REMOVE THE TWO (2) 7 MM SUPPORT PLATE ATTACHING BOLTS. 4.PLACE THE SUPPORT PLATE IN A VISE AND ROLL THE EDGE DOWNWARD (SEE FIGURE 1). 5.TAPE ALL THE EDGES OF THE SUPPORT PLATE WITH CLOTH-BACKED BODY TAPE. 6.INSTALL THE SWITCH SUPPORT PLATE. 7.ENGAGE THE POWER SEAT CONNECTOR. 8.INSTALL THE SEAT SWITCH ESCUTCHEON.
