HEAVY CHUGGLE (35-55 MPH) MISCALIBRATED PROM, EGR

Models Affected: 1982 & 1983 4.1L Equipped Regals

A recalibrated PROM, EGR valve, EGR relay, and a wiring harness to install the relay are now available in limited quantities to correct this condition.

The following kit part #25522748 should be ordered from WDDGW and installed on the vehicle per the instructions contained in this bulletin.

NOTICE: All parts contained in this kit must be installed for correction, if not performance and detonation conditions will occur.

Procedure

1) Disconnect positive battery cable.

2) Remove ECM and housing from body kick panel.

3) Connect jumper harness provided to relay.

4) Solder splice jumper harness into the following wire leads going to the lettered ECM connector of the ECM harness; See Figures 2 and 3.

Note: Use only Rosin core solder for all solder splices.

5) Tape each wire splice.

6) Wrap relay in foan sound deadener provided, See Figure 4.

7) Tape jumper harness and relay to ECM harness, See Figure 1 for locations.

8) Install New PROM into ECM, reinstall ECM and housing.

9) Install EGR valve per Chassis Service Manual procedures.

10) Reconnect battery cable.
