DOOR OR ROOF PAINT CHIPPING AT UPPER REAR CORNER

MODELS AFFECTED: 1988 BUICK REGAL

Paint chipping at the upper rear corner of the door/roof, caused by door "overslam" may be prevented from recurring by installing "overslam bumpers".

Two (2) bumpers, Part Number 459848, available from GMSPO are required per vehicle.

1. Repair paint damage. Use appropriate labor operation.

2. Remove body lock pillar applique.

3. Drill and chamfer a 1/4" hole, located .800" down from top edge and .300 rearward of radius. See illustration.

4. Install bumper, using soapy water to ease insertion.

5. Reinstall applique.

NOTICE: If back portion of bumper contacts lock pillar, rernove up to 1/8" of rubber.

6. Do both sides.
