HORN STICKS WHEN TEMPERATURE BELOW ZERO

MODELS AFFECTED: 1988 BUICK REGALS BUILT PRIOR TO NOVEMBER 9, 1987

Comments may be made by owners/dealers on horn blows and sticks in cold weather (zero or below) when vehicle is unattended.

To repair, replace the horn bar with a new one currently available from GMSPO, Part Number 17984460.

If the new horn bar is not available, a temporary correction may be accomplished by removing the horn bar (two attaching screws) and disconnecting the large black ground terminal and reinstalling horn bar. Owners must be informed that this is only temporary until a new horn bar is received at the dealership and that the adjacent horn blowing pad is still functional (in area of embossed horn emblem).

When new horn bar is installed, be sure to reconnect large black ground terminal.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
