HORN STICKS WHEN TEMP. BELOW ZERO (INSTALL NEW HORN PAD)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988 W-CAR (NEW PART)

Comments may be made by owners/dealers on horn blowing and sticking in any weather condition when vehicle is unattended. Some 1988 Buick Regals before VIN 1515831 may have this condition. To repair, replace the horn bar with a new one currently available from Canadian Service Parts Operation (CANSPO) part numbers, 17984460 Brushed Aluminum, P/N 17988940, Woodgrain. To repair, replace the horn bar with a new one currently available from Canadian Service Parts Operations (CANSPO).

If the new horn bar is not available at dealership level, a temporary correction may be accomplished by removing the horn bar (two attaching screws) and disconnecting the large black ground terminal and reinstalling horn bar. Owners must be informed that this is only temporary until a new horn bar is received at the dealership and that the adjacent horn blowing pad is still functional.

When new horn bar is installed, be sure to reconnect large black ground terminal.

Use the most applicable labour operation from the Canadian Labour Time Guide and claim 0.2 hours.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
