Some vehicles may exhibit wavy door mounted body side mouldings.
Lack of moulding retention between the moulding retaining brackets on the door.
Replace moulding retaining brackets with a single, door-length moulding retainer p/n #10182680 using the following procedure.
1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Easy access to bottom edge of door as well as door handle will be necessary.
2. Open door and remove moulding retaining screws along bottom and rear edges of door.
3. Pull lower edge of moulding away from door and carefully slide moulding rearward to remove it from door.
4. Remove moulding retaining brackets from door by sliding them in the appropriate direction.
5. Locate the new retainer on the door. The bottom edge of the retainer should rest on the tops of the weld studs and the retainer should be centered on the door.
6. Mark the location of one of the centre holes of the retainer on the door.
7. Using a 3/16" drill bit with a drill stop set at 13 mm (1/2"), drill a hole at the marked location.
8. Apply a suitable sealer to the edges of the hole to prevent corrosion.
9. Position the new retainer to the door and install a 3/16 x 3/8" STEEL rivet with a 3/8" head (obtain locally or use GM P/N # 02477054)* in the hole. Apply a suitable sealer to the rivet head to prevent corrosion.
10. Working from the centre of the retainer forward and from the centre of the retainer rearward, repeat Steps 7 through 9 for the rest of the retainer holes. Be sure that the retainer edge rests on the weld studs to insure proper alignment.
11. Slide the moulding on to the new retainer. Be sure that proper engagement occurs.
12. Install moulding retaining screws.
13. Inspect for proper alignment with other mouldings.
14. Repeat for other side if necessary.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
