A fuse or fusible link may intermittently blow causing loss of power to the circuits that are fed by that protection device.
If this condition is encountered, attention should be directed to the following areas:
(1) The I/P harness near the I/P support bracket at the right side of the steering column. Refer to Figure 1.
(2) The I/P harness behind the fuse block at the point at which the harness takes a curve around the fuse block bracket. Refer to Figure 1.
(1) Repair any damaged wires using the proper procedures as shown in Section 8A-5 of the Service Manual.
(2) Move the harnesses as far away from any metal edges as possible and secure with a tie strap to prevent may further contact. If the wires cannot be moved, protect the bracket, edges with 3M electrical sealant tape #06147 or equivalent.
Use applicable Labour Operation and time from the Canadian Labour Time Guide.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
