REAR WHEEL ABS SPEED SENSOR REPAIR PROCEDURE

SUBJECT: REAR WHEEL ABS SPEED SENSORS (REPLACE REAR WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989-90 W-CAR

CONDITION:

Malfunction of rear wheel ABS Speed Sensor on some 1989-90 "W" cars. ABS dash light comes on, ABS Diagnostics points to the rear sensor. If the ABS light is on, only the anti-lock feature is inoperative. The normal brake system is still 100% functional.

CAUSE:

The ABS Sensor is not Serviced separately, replace the rear wheel bearing assemblies with P/N #7466987 bearings.

Part is currently available from CANSPO.

If a vehicle encounters this condition, both rear wheel bearing assemblies should be replaced.

IMPORTANT: When removing the ABS electrical connector, refer to the following illustrations to insure against damaging any part of the connector which uses CPA (Connector Position Assurance) locking pins.
