REVISION 10/27/93
THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO CHANGE MODEL YEARS UNDER MODELS SECTION. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBJECT: INTERMITTENT OR NO TCC APPLY -- POSSIBLE DTC CODE 26 AND/OR DTC CODE 39 (REPLACE TRANSAXLE WIRE HARNESS)
1991-93 HYDRA-MATIC 4T60-E (RP0 M13)
CONDITION: (FIGURE 1)
SOME OWNERS MAY EXPERIENCE AN INTERMITTENT OR NO TCC APPLY CONDITION. A SES LIGHT WITH DTC 26 AND/OR DTC CODE 39 MAY BE PRESENT.
CAUSE: (FIGURE 2)
THE CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY A SHORT IN THE INTERNAL WIRING HARNESS OF THE TRANSAXLE. IT WAS DETERMINED THE DIODE WIRE SPLICE (IN THE WIRING HARNESS) MAY HAVE THE ABILITY TO POKE INTO THE INSULATION OF THE ADJACENT WIRE CAUSING A SHORT.
TO TEST FOR THE ABOVE CONDITION, DISCONNECT THE TRANSAXLE WIRING HARNESS AT THE TCC SOLENOID. AT THE TRANSAXLE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR, PLACE ONE PROBE OF THE DVOM AT PIN "A", AND THE OTHER PROBE AT PIN "D". WHILE MONITORING THE DVOM, MANIPULATE THE WIRE HARNESS AT THE DIODE LOCATION. IF CONTINUITY IS PRESENT AT ANY TIME, THE TRANSAXLE WIRE HARNESS MUST BE REPLACED.
