CONDITION:

THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FOR THE ABOVE VEHICLE MAY APPEAR INOPERATIVE OR IT MAY NOT MAINTAIN THE SET SPEED.

CAUSE:

A MISADJUSTED CRUISE CONTROL CABLE MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THE CONDITIONS.

A MISADJUSTED CRUISE CONTROL CABLE WILL HAVE EXCESSIVE SLACK IN THE CABLE.

THE AMOUNT OF EXCESSIVE CABLE SLACK WILL PREVENT THE STEPPER MOTOR TO HAVE SUFFICIENT TRAVEL EITHER TO ACTUATE THE THROTTLE LEVER OR TO ACTUATE THE THROTTLE LEVER ENOUGH IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE SET SPEED.

CORRECTION:

ADJUST THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE: (SEE FIGURE)

- DEPRESS PUSH BUTTON AT ADJUSTER - WITH BUTTON DEPRESSED, PULL CONDUITS AWAY FROM EITHER SIDE OF THE ADJUSTER UNTIL NO MORE TRAVEL IS OBTAINED ** WITHOUT ** MOVING THE THROTTLE LEVER - RELEASE PUSH BUTTON - DEPRESS PUSH BUTTON AT THE **OTHER** ADJUSTER - WITH BUTTON DEPRESSED, PULL CONDUITS AWAY FROM EITHER SIDE OF THE ADJUSTER **WITHOUT** MOVING THE THROTTLE LEVER - RELEASE PUSH BUTTON

NOTE: IT DOES NOT MATTER WHICH ADJUSTER IS ADJUSTED FIRST, AS LONG AS **BOTH** ADJUSTERS ARE ADJUSTED PER THE ABOVE PROCEDURE.

TEST DRIVE VEHICLE TO INSURE PROPER CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION. IF CONDITION IS NOT RESOLVED, INSPECT FOR KINKED, MISROUTED, OR BROKEN CRUISE CONTROL CABLE AND READJUST PER ABOVE PROCEDURE.
