Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the console. Refer to Instrument panel, Gages and Console.

  2. Object Number: 161212  Size: SH
  3. Remove the console wiring harness.

  4. Object Number: 161210  Size: SH
  5. Remove the console shift control wiring harness, right side.

  6. Object Number: 161211  Size: SH
  7. Remove the console shift control wiring harness, left side.
  8. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement .

  9. Object Number: 161207  Size: SH
  10. Remove the console shift control nuts.
  11. Remove the console shift control.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 161207  Size: SH
  1. Install the console shift control.
  2. Install the console shift control nuts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the console shift control nuts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft). Refer to

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Install the shift control in the NEUTRAL position. Use the lever on the passenger side of the shifter to depress and move out of the PARK position if the console shift control is inadvertently moved to the PARK position. Remove the shift lever release cover to access the lever if the console is installed and the console shift control is inadvertently moved to the PARK position.

  4. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement .

  6. Install the console shift control wiring harness, right side.

  7. Object Number: 161210  Size: SH
  8. Install the console shift control wiring harness, left side.

  10. Install the console wiring harness.
  11. Install the console. Refer to Instrument panel, Gages and Console.
  12. Adjust the transaxle side automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement and/or Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment .
