Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to

    Caution: To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle at the opposite end from which components are being removed. This will reduce the possibility of the vehicle falling off the hoist.

  2. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the right inner splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.

  4. Object Number: 160962  Size: SH
  5. Remove the transaxle brace bolts.
  6. Remove the transaxle brace.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the transaxle brace to transaxle and engine.

  2. Object Number: 160962  Size: SH

    Important: Do NOT tighten the transaxle brace bolts out of sequence or side load condition to the transaxle may occur.

  3. Hand start the bolts to the engine.
  4. Hand start the bolts to the transaxle.
  5. Install the brace bolts to the engine.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the brace bolts to 43 N·m (32 lb ft). Refer to

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the brace bolts to the transaxle.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the brace bolts to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

  9. Install the right inner splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.
  10. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
