INFO ON RETAINING ACCESSORY POWER FEATURE

THIS IS A MONTHLY SERVICE NEWSLETTER ARTICLE. THIS BULLETIN IS NOT INTENDED FOR PUBLICATION.

SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER FEATURE

MODELS: 1998 BUICK CENTURY

OUR CURRENT LITERATURE SHOWS THAT RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER IS STANDARD ON THE CENTURY LIMITED AND NOT AVAILABLE ON THE CENTURY CUSTOM. HOWEVER, DUE TO THE WAY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS DESIGNED, RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER IS PRESENT WHENEVER A CENTURY CUSTOM IS ORDERED WITH EITHER STEERING WHEEL RADIO CONTROLS (UK3) OR DUAL COMFORTEMP CLIMATE CONTROL (CJ3).

RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER (RAP) ALLOWS THE RADIO, POWER WINDOWS, AND POWER SUNROOF (IF EQUIPPED) TO OPERATE AFTER THE VEHICLE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF. THESE FEATURES WILL CONTINUE TO FUNCTION FOR 10 MINUTES, OR UNTIL A VEHICLE DOOR IS OPENED.
