Disconnect the rear compartment lid lock release actuator connector.

Will the trunk lid latch?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment lid release relay.
  2. With a test light, backprobe between the relay terminal A2 and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step 6

  1. Check the mechanical operation of the rear compartment.
  2. Look for bindings, lid gap adjustments and latch operation, etc.
  3. If lid mechanical condition is OK, replace rear compartment lid lock release actuator. Refer to Release Actuator Replacement for service procedure.

Repair a short to B+ in circuit 56.

Replace the rear compartment lid release relay.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reconnect all the connectors/components that have been disconnected.

Are all repairs complete?
