Throttle Body Assembly Replacement VIN K

Notice: Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.

1. Remove the injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
2. Drain the radiator coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
3. Remove the air intake tube.



4. Disconnect the IAC valve sensor electrical connector.



5. Disconnect the MAF sensor electrical connector.



6. Disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector.



7. Disconnect the accelerator controls cable. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .



8. Remove the accelerator controls cable bracket. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Bracket Replacement .



9. Disconnect the electrical harness retainer clip (1) and harness (2) from the accelerator control cable bracket (3).



10. Disconnect the vacuum line from the throttle body.



11. Remove the throttle body support bracket (VIN K only).



12. Remove the nuts and bolts holding the throttle body to the intake manifold using a wrench on the manifold side of the inserts to prevent the inserts from rotating in the manifold casting (VIN K only).



13. Remove the throttle body assembly.
14. Clean the gasket surface on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly.

Important: The throttle should operate freely without binding between full Closed and Wide Open Throttle.

1. Install the new gasket, and new inserts and studs if necessary (VIN K only).
2. Install the throttle body assembly.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).




4. Install the accelerator controls cable bracket. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Bracket Replacement .



5. Connect the accelerator control cables. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .
6. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also, check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.



7. Connect the electrical harness retainer clip (1) and harness (2) to the accelerator control cable bracket (3).



8. Connect the vacuum line to the throttle body.



9. Connect the IAC valve sensor electrical connector.



10. Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector.



11. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
12. Install the air intake tube.
13. Refill the radiator to replace the lost coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.



14. Install the injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

Throttle Body Assembly Replacement VIN 1

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Drain the radiator coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
3. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical.



4. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor electrical connector (2) from the intake air temperature sensor (1).



5. Disconnect the intake air duct from the throttle body.



6. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector from the IAC valve.



7. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector from the TP sensor.



8. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector from the MAF sensor.



9. Disconnect the cruise control cable (1) from the accelerator controls cable bracket (2). Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement in Cruise Control.



10. Disconnect the accelerator controls cable (1) from the accelerator controls cable bracket (2).



11. Disconnect the cruise control cable (2) from the throttle body lever (3). Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement in Cruise Control.



12. Disconnect the accelerator controls cable (2) from the throttle body lever (3).



13. Disconnect the electrical harness (2) retainer clip (1) from the accelerator controls cable bracket (3) if applicable.



14. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the throttle body noting location.



15. Remove the nut (2) from the air injection pipe (1).



16. Remove the 3 nuts and bolts holding the throttle body to the supercharger.
17. Remove the throttle body assembly.



18. Remove the accelerator controls cable bracket, if replacing the throttle body. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Bracket Replacement .

Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.
19. Clean the gasket surface on the supercharger and the throttle body assembly.

Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

1. If necessary, install the accelerator controls bracket to the throttle body .

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 16 N·m  (12 lb ft).




2. Install the new gasket, and new inserts and studs if necessary.
3. Install the throttle body assembly.
4. Install the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts to 10 N·m  (7 lb ft).




5. Install the nut (2) from the air injection pipe (1).

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m  (7 lb ft).




6. Connect the vacuum hoses to the throttle body.



7. Connect the accelerator controls cable (1) to the accelerator controls cable bracket (2) at the throttle body. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .



8. Connect the cruise control cable (1) to the accelerator control bracket at the throttle body (2). Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement in Cruise Control.




Important: The throttle should operate freely without binding between full Closed and Wide Open Throttle.

9. Install the accelerator control cable (2) to the throttle body lever (3).



10. Connect the cruise control cable (2) to the throttle body lever (3).
11. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator controls pedal.



12. Connect the electrical harness (2) retainer clip (1) and harness to the accelerator controls bracket (3) if applicable.



13. Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector to the MAF sensor.



14. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector to the TP sensor.



15. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector to the IAC valve.



16. Connect the intake air duct to the throttle body.

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 2   N·m (18 lb in).




17. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector (2) to the IAT sensor (1).
18. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical.



19. Refill the radiator to replace the lost coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
