For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Check the tire pressures. Refer to Tire Inflation Pressure Specifications in Maintenance and Lubrication.
  2. Note the load conditions under which the vehicle is normally operated.
  3. If practical, ride with the owner to be sure that you understand the complaint before proceeding to the next step.
  4. Test each strut by quickly pushing down (jouncing) and then lifting up on the corner of the bumper that is nearest to the strut being checked.
  5. Use the same amount of effort on each test and note the resistance on both compression and rebound.
  6. Compare the results with a similar vehicle that has an acceptable ride quality.
  7. Both struts should provide the same feeling of resistance.
