Use a tire changing machine in order to mount or dismount tires. Follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions. Do not change tires with hand tools or tire irons, because these tools may damage the tire bead or the wheel rim.
Clean the rim bead seats with a wire brush or course steel wool in order to remove the following:
• | Lubricants |
• | Old rubber |
• | Light rust |
Important: Do not lubricate the tire beads or the wheel rim with lubrication which contains silicone. Before mounting or dismounting a tire, clean the bead area and completely lubricate the area with GM P/N 12345884 (50 percent lubricant and 50 percent water).
Caution: To avoid serious personal injury, do not stand over tire when inflating. The bead may break when the bead snaps over the safety hump. Do not exceed 275 kPa (40 psi) pressure when inflating any tire if beads are not seated. If 275 kPa (40 psi) pressure will not seat the beads, deflate, relubricate the beads and reinflate. Overinflation may cause the bead to break and cause serious personal injury.
After mounting, inflate the tire to 275 pKa (40 psi) so that the beads are completely seated.
Install the valve core and inflate to pressure specified on the Tire Inflation Pressure Specifications in General Information. Verify that the locating ring of the tire shows around the rim flanges on both sides of the wheel.
