Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 34611-A Valve Core Remover and Installer

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the left front diagonal brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the cross vehicle brace if equipped. Refer to Cross Vehicle Brace Replacement in Body Front End.

  4. Object Number: 369052  Size: SH
  5. Remove the service port valve cap.

  6. Object Number: 369066  Size: SH
  7. Remove the service port valve core using J 34611-A .

Installation Procedure

    Important: Lubricate the service port valve core O-ring with 525 refrigerant oil.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the service port valve core using J 34611-A .
  2. Tighten the service port valve core.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the service port valve core to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  4. Install the service port valve caps.
  5. Install the cross vehicle brace if equipped. Refer to Cross Vehicle Brace Replacement in Body Front End.
  6. Install the left front diagonal brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement in Body Front End.
  7. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  8. Leak test the filling(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400 .
