Inspect the fuse block to determine if the HVAC fuse is open.

Is the HVAC fuse open?

--

  1. Disconnect the heater-A/C control harness connector C 1.
  2. Be certain the HVAC fuse is removed from the fuse block.
  3. Use a test lamp, connected to B+, to backprobe the heater-A/C control connector terminal B (CKT 41) .

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair a short to ground in CKT 41 (BRN). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reconnect the heater-A/C control
  2. Install a new HVAC CTRL fuse.
  3. Disconnect the blower motor resistor harness connector.
  4. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  5. Place the fan control in the High position.
  6. Use a test lamp to probe between the blower motor resistor connector terminal F (CKT 52) and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Disconnect the blower motor connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Turn the heater-A/C control switch to HI.
  4. Use a test lamp to backprobe between the blower motor connector, terminal A and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Use a test lamp to probe between the blower motor connector terminal A and terminal B.

Does the test light illuminate?

Replace the blower motor. Refer to Blower Motor and Fan Replacement .

Replace the heater-A/C control. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement .

  1. Disconnect the blower motor resistor connector.
  2. Use a test lamp to probe between the blower motor resistor harness connector terminal E (CKT 150) and B+.

Does the test light illuminate?

Replace the blower motor resistor. Refer to Blower Motor Resistor Replacement .

Locate and repair a poor connection or an open in CKT 150 (BLK) between the blower motor resistor connector C 1 terminal E and G200. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
