Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Shift the gear selector lever to the REVERSE position.

Do both of the backup lamps turn on?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Inspect the backup lamps for an open or damaged filament.
  2. Inspect the left or right backup lamp connectors for damage or poor connection.

Are the backup lamp bulbs and connectors OK?

  1. Remove the inoperative backup lamp.
  2. Apply the park brake.
  3. Shift the gear selector lever to the REVERSE position.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  5. Connect a test lamp between inoperative backup lamp connector switch B+ feed and a known good ground.

Does the test light illuminate

Repair the poor connection or an open in the inoperable backup lamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair a poor connection or an open in the backup lamp switched B+ circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
