Squeaks and rattles are caused by improperly controlled relative motion between components. The following three methods are used to prevent squeaks or rattles:

    • Attach the components securely in order to eliminate any relative motion during operation.
    • Separate the components in order to prevent contact during vehicle operation.
    • Insulate the components in order to prevent squeaks or rattles that are caused by relative motion between the components.
Low uniform friction surfaces can be provided in order to eliminate stickslip motion.
