Removal Procedure

    Important: The sunroof actuator can be replaced with the glass in any position. It contains no limit switches and its drive shaft turns in both directions.

  1. Remove the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  2. Object Number: 594492  Size: SH
  3. Remove the tie strap from the wiring harness.
  4. Remove the screws retaining the sunroof actuator (1).

  5. Object Number: 647198  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the sunroof actuator harness from the express module harness.
  7. Pull the actuator straight down to disengage the drive gear.
  8. Remove the actuator from the sunroof.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 594492  Size: SH
  1. Position the actuator (1) to the sunroof.
  2. Push the actuator straight in. This will engage the drive gear into the position encoding system module.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the sunroof actuator retaining screws.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the sunroof actuator screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  6. Connect the sunroof actuator harness to the express module harness.
  7. Install the tie strap to the wiring harness.
  8. Check the operation of the sunroof to all positions.
  9. Install the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
