Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Suitably support the exhaust system.
  3. Disconnect the exhaust system hangers from the exhaust system.

    4. Object Number: 389538 Size: SH
  4. Remove the exhaust resonator or catalytic converter bolts.
  5. Remove the exhaust resonator or catalytic converter gasket.

    6. Object Number: 389589 Size: SH
  6. Remove the exhaust muffler with exhaust pipe and tail pipe.

    7. Object Number: 391078 Size: SH
  7. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe nuts and the exhaust manifold pipe springs from the exhaust manifold pipe studs, if equipped.
  8. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe bolts, if equipped.
  9. Remove the exhaust resonator or the catalytic converter.
  10. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe seal or the exhaust manifold gasket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 391078 Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold pipe seal or the exhaust manifold gasket.
  2. Install and suitably support the exhaust resonator or catalytic converter.
  3. Install the exhaust manifold pipe springs and the exhaust manifold pipe nuts, if equipped.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  4. Install the exhaust manifold pipe bolts, if equipped.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install and suitably support the exhaust muffler with exhaust pipe and tail pipe.
  6. Connect the exhaust system hangers to the exhaust system.

    7. Object Number: 389538 Size: SH
  7. Install the exhaust resonator or catalytic converter gasket.
  8. Install the exhaust resonator or catalytic converter bolts.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust resonator or catalytic converter bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  9. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
  10. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
