Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 317815  Size: SH
  1. Open the hood.
  2. Mark the upper hood hinge location to the hood with the grease pencil.
  3. Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  4. Remove the hood assist rod. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .
  5. Remove the bolts from the upper hinge to hood, with the aid of an assistant.
  6. Remove the hood from the vehicle, with the aid of an assistant.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the hood to the vehicle with the aid of an assistant.
  2. Align the hood hinges to the alignment marks on the hood.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the hinge to hood bolts, with the aid of an assistant.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the hood hinge bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  6. Install the hood assist rod. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .
  7. Adjust the hood as required. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
