Problem

Action

Low tire pressure

Adjust the tires to the specified pressure. Refer to Tire Inflation Description in Tires and Wheels

Binding in the steering linkage

Inspect the steering components. Refer to Power Steering System Inspection .

Low power steering fluid

  1. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  2. Inspect the power system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .

High internal leakage in the power steering gear or the power steering pump

Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks

Sticky flow control valve

  1. Flush the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Flushing .
  2. Replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement

The rack bearing preload is adjusted too tightly.

Adjust the rack bearing preload to specifications. Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .

Incorrect front wheel alignment

Adjust the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment
