Action

Air in the power steering fluid

  1. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks
  2. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

The following conditions exist in the power steering fluid:

  1. Foamy fluid
  2. The fluid level is OK
  1. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  2. If the power steering fluid remains foamy replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The power steering pump is leaking internally

  1. Inspect the power steering pump for location of leakage.
  2. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks

  3. Replace the power steering pump if leakage cannot be repaired. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
