Action

Stuck/inoperative control valve

  1. Flush the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Flushing .
  2. If the control valve remains stuck/inoperative replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Worn power steering pump ring

  1. Inspect the power steering pump ring. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. If the power steering pump ring is worn replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Scored pressure plate

  1. Inspect the pressure plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. If the power steering pump pressure plate is scored replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Scored thrust plate

  1. Inspect the thrust plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. If the power steering pump thrust plate is scored replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Scored rotor

  1. Inspect the rotor. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement
  2. If the power steering pump rotor is scored replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Broken pressure plate

  1. Inspect the pressure plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. If the power steering pump pressure plate is broken replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Broken thrust plate

  1. Inspect the thrust plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. If the power steering pump thrust plate is broken replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Vanes sticking in the rotor slots

  1. Inspect the vanes. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. If the power steering vanes are damaged replace power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
