Action

Excessive back pressure in the power steering hoses

  1. Inspect the power steering hoses for restrictions. Refer to Power Steering System Test .
  2. Replace the hoses, if necessary. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement or Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .

Excessive back pressure in the power steering gear

  1. Inspect the steering gear for restrictions. Refer to Power Steering System Test .
  2. Replace the power steering gear, if necessary. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Scored pressure plate

  1. Inspect the pressure plate for scores. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement
  2. If the pressure plates are scored replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Scored thrust plate

  1. Inspect the thrust plate for scores. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement
  2. If the power steering pump thrust plate is scored replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Scored rotor

  1. Inspect the rotor for scores. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement
  2. If the power steering pump rotor is scored replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Worn power steering pump ring

  1. Inspect the power steering pump ring. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement
  2. If the power steering pump ring is worn replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
