Action

The power steering lines are grounding out.

Ensure that the power steering lines are routed properly.

Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement or Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .

The power steering gear bearing preload is misadjusted.

Adjust the power steering gear bearing preload to specification. Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .

The power steering gear is loose.

Tighten the power steering gear bolts to specification. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

The tie rod end(s) are loose.

Repair or replace the tie rod ends as necessary. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .

The intermediate steering shaft is loose.

Inspect the intermediate steering shaft. Refer to Steering Shaft Inspection in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

Repair or replace the intermediate steering shaft as necessary. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
