Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls.
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the cross vehicle beam. Refer to
Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement
in Instrument Panel,
Gauges and Console.
- Disconnect the A/C lines at the evaporator block fitting. Refer
to
Evaporator Tube Replacement
.
- Disconnect the heater hoses at the heater core. Refer to
Heater Hoses Replacement
.
Important: If equipped with C60, position the heater core cover downward and rearward
in order to disconnect the cover from the rear area floor duct assembly.
- Remove the heater core outlet cover screws, if equipped with C60.
- Remove the heater core outlet cover, if equipped with C60.
- Remove the evaporator
drain elbow.
- Remove the HVAC module
to dash nuts.
- Disconnect the vacuum hoses.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the HVAC module.
- Remove all of the outer
HVAC module seals (1,2,3).
Installation Procedure
- Install new outer HVAC
module seals (1,2,3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the HVAC
module to dash nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the HVAC module nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connectors.
- Connect the vacuum hoses.
- Install the heater core
outlet cover, if equipped with C60.
- Install the heater core outlet cover screws, if equipped with
C60.
Tighten
Tighten the heater core outlet cover screws to 1.5 N·m
(13 lb in).
- Install the cross vehicle beam. Refer to
Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement
in Instrument Panel,
Gauges and Console.
- Connect the heater hoses at the heater core. Refer to
Heater Hoses Replacement
.
- Install the A/C lines at the evaporator block fitting. Refer to
Evaporator Tube Replacement
.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the A/C system. Refer to
Leak Testing
.
- Install the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls.
