Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the yellow
2-way wiring harness connector on the steering wheel module coil at the base
of the steering column.
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the steering wheel
module coil.
Position the steering wheel all the way down, if the vehicle is
equipped with power steering.
On the back side of the
steering wheel are 4 openings/holes for removing the driver inflator
module.
Turn the steering wheel until 2 of the opening/holes are
on top.
Important: Seat the air bag removal tool all the way for the tool to perform properly.
Push the handle back towards the instrument panel (I/P), releasing the
2 spring-loaded fasteners at the same time.
Turn the steering wheel and repeat the same steps for the other
2 opening/holes.
Remove the inflator module from the steering wheel.
Pull the inflator module gently away from the steering wheel.
Remove the connector position
assurance (CPA).
Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the inflator
module.
Rotate the horn contact lead counterclockwise ¼ turn.
The lead is located in the center of the steering wheel column.
Remove the horn contact lead.
Remove the steering wheel module.
Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced
under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required
retention period. Refer to
