Important: The courtesy lights do not turn ON when the IP dimmer switch is in the DOME position. The courtesy lights turn ON when any door is open.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Use the scan tool in order to monitor the status of the CTSY LAMP SW.
  5. While observing the scan tool, turn the IP dimmer switch from OFF to DOME, and back to OFF.

Does the scan tool display that the status of the CTSY LAMP SW is high when the IP dimmer switch is in the DOME position?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the scan tool from the DLC.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  5. While observing the courtesy lights, turn the IP dimmer switch to the DOME position.

Do the courtesy lights turn ON when the IP dimmer switch is in the DOME position?

  1. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the DOME position.
  2. Use a test light in order to probe and connect between the following components:
  3. • The body control module (BCM) connector C1 terminal D15
    • Ground

Does the test light illuminate?

A malfunction is not present at this time. Refer to Interior Lights Circuit Description for more information regarding the operation of the courtesy lights.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the BCM connector C1 terminal D15 for poor terminal contact. Perform repairs as necessary.
  2. If the BCM connector is OK, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

  1. Disconnect the headlamp switch electrical connector.
  2. Use a test light in order to connect between the following components:
  3. The headlamp switch harness connector terminal N
  4. Ground

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C1.
  3. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the following components:
  4. • The BCM harness connector C1 terminal D15
    • The headlamp switch harness connector terminal M

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

2 ohms

Go to Step 10

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 1750.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the headlamp switch assembly.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reconnect the connectors and reinstall the components that were removed.
