Important: The courtesy lights stay ON with all doors closed, the IP dimmer switch OFF, and none of the interior lighting modes activated. However, the inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection should turn OFF the courtesy lights after 20 minutes.

  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is OFF.
  2. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  4. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  6. Use the scan tool in order to monitor the status of the DRI DOOR SW.

Does the scan tool display that the status of the DRI DOOR SW is high?

  1. Ensure that all of the vehicle doors remain closed.
  2. Use the scan tool in order to monitor the status of the DOOR JAMB SW.

Does the scan tool display that the status of the DOOR JAMB SW is high?

  1. Disconnect the left front door lock switch electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C1.
  3. Ensure that the drivers door remains completely closed when performing the following step.
  4. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the following components:
  5. • The BCM harness connector C1 terminal D16
    • Ground

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

  1. Ensure that all of the vehicle doors remain closed.
  2. Use the scan tool in order to monitor the status of the CTSY LAMP SW.

Does the scan tool display that the status of the CTSY LAMP SW is high?

  1. Disconnect the BCM connector C1.
  2. Disconnect the headlamp switch electrical connector.
  3. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the following components:
  4. • The BCM harness connector C1 terminal C16
    • Ground
  5. Disconnect the following door lock switches one at a time, until the DMM reads infinite resistance:
  6. • The left front
    • The right front
    • The left rear
    • The right rear
    • If the DMM show infinite when disconnecting one of the door lock switches, replace that door lock switch.
    • If the DMM does not show infinite after all door lock switches are disconnected, repair a short to ground in circuit 727.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C1.
  3. Ensure that the driver's door remains completely closed when performing the following step.
  4. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the following components:
  5. • The BCM harness connector C1 terminal D16
    • Ground

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

  1. Disconnect the headlamp switch electrical connector.
  2. Use a DMM in order to measure the voltage between the following components:
  3. • The BCM harness connector C2 terminal D15
    • Ground

Is the voltage less than specified value?

  1. Ensure that all the vehicle doors remain closed when performing the following step.
  2. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the following components:
  3. • The BCM harness connector C1 terminal C16
    • Ground

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is turned OFF when performing the following step.
  2. Use a DMM in order to measure the voltage between the following components:
  3. • The BCM harness connector C1 terminal D15
    • Ground

Is the voltage less than the specified value?

  1. Reconnect the BCM connectors C1 and C3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is OFF.
  4. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  5. Observe the courtesy lights.

Are the courtesy lights OFF?

  1. Disconnect the body control module (BCM) connectors C2 and C3.
  2. Use a DMM in order to measure the voltage between the following components:
  3. • The BCM harness connector C3 terminal F
    • Ground

Is the voltage less than the specified value?

2 V

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reconnect the connector and reinstall the components that were removed.

Have all the repairs been made?

Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the following components:

    • The BCM harness connector C2 terminal A1
    • Ground

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

Repair a short to voltage in circuit 1732.

  1. Reconnect the BCM connector C1.
  2. Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to RUN, then back to LOCK.
  3. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the DOME position for 20 minutes.

Did the courtesy lights turn OFF after 20 minutes, or 3 minutes if the vehicle has less than 15 total accumulated miles?
