Was the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Connect a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
  3. WOW the instrument cluster ON.
  4. WOW the instrument cluster OFF.

Does the safety belt indicator remain illuminated?

  1. Connect a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
  3. Read the input of the safety belt indicator.
  4. Connect and disconnect the seat belt.
  5. Observe the cluster seat belt indicator.

Does the seat belt lamp change states and turn off and on as the belt switch is connected and disconnected?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  3. Fasten the driver's seat belt.
  4. Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK position to the RUN position.
  5. Listen to the chime.

Does the BCM sound the fasten seat belt reminder sounds for 6 seconds?

The fasten belts indicator lamp turns on with the driver's seat belt fastened due to a malfunction between the BCM and the driver's seat belt switch. Refer to Fasten Safety Belt Chime Always On for further diagnosis.
