Front Side Door Lock Striker Adjustment With Mini-Wedge Aligner

Tools Required

J 39346-A Mini-Wedge Door Striker Aligner

    Important: The doors must be properly aligned before adjusting the striker.

  1. For door alignment refer to Front Side Door Adjustment .
  2. Adjust the striker.

  3. Object Number: 308345  Size: MH
    2.1. Loosen the screws just enough to allow movement of the striker.
    2.2. Install J 39346-A to the striker.
    2.3. Close the door while holding the outside handle in the open position.

    Do not slam the door.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Open the door.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the door lock striker screws to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Remove J 39346-A .
  7. After adjusting the striker; paint any exposed unpainted areas.

Front Side Door Lock Striker Adjustment W/Out Mini-Wedge Aligner

  3. Adjust the striker up or down and inboard or outboard.

  4. Object Number: 308345  Size: MH
    2.1. Loosen the striker screws.
    2.2. Move the striker up or down and inboard or outboard as required.

    Tighten
    Tighten the door lock striker screws to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Adjust the striker forward or rearward.
  6. 3.1. Apply modeling clay or the body caulking compound to the door lock opening.
    3.2. Close the door far enough for the striker to make the impression in the clay or the caulking compound.

    Closing the door all the way will make removing the clay or caulking compound difficult.

    3.3. Open the door and check that the striker impression is centered forward and rearward in the lock opening.
  7. If the adjustment is needed follow these procedures:
  8. • Remove the striker.
    • Add or remove the spacers as needed.
    • Install the striker. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Striker Replacement .
  9. After adjusting the striker; paint any exposed unpainted areas.
