Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the front end sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery.

  4. Object Number: 355666  Size: SH
  5. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt.
  6. Remove the batteryhold down retainer.
  7. Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.

  8. Remove the battery.

  10. Remove the battery insulator from the battery.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery insulator onto the battery.

  2. Object Number: 355666  Size: SH

    Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery installation.

  3. Install the battery into the battery tray.
  4. Install the battery hold down retainer.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the battery hold down retainer bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the hold down retainer bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  8. Connect the battery positive cable to the battery.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the battery positive cable terminal bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  10. Install the front end sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement in Body Front End.
  11. Connect the battery negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
