Did you review the Outside Mirror Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspection?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Doors

Verify the power mirrors inoperative fault is present.

Does the power mirrors system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Are the vertical and horizontal functions inoperative for both mirrors?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

1. Disconnect the outside rearview mirror switch.
2. Probe the battery positive voltage circuit of the outside rearview mirror switch harness connector with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 10

Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit and the ground circuit of the outside rearview mirror switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 11

1. Disconnect the inoperative outside rearview mirror.
2. Connect a test lamp between the appropriate mirror motor control circuits of the inoperative outside rearview mirror.
3. Place the mirror select switch in the appropriate mirror position.
4. Operate the outside rearview mirror remote control switch in both directions for the functions being tested.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Test the appropriate mirror motor control circuits for a short to voltage or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the outside rearview mirror switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the appropriate outside rearview mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the battery positive voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the outside rearview mirror switch. Refer to Power Mirror Switch Replacement .

Replace the appropriate outside rearview mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
