Door Lock/Indicator Schematics

Did you perform the Door System Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the door ajar indicator malfunction fault is present.

Does the door ajar indicator operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Is the door ajar indicator on all the time?

Go to Step 4

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Close all of the doors.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the door jamb switch parameter in the Body Control Module Inputs data list.

Does the scan tool display Active?

Go to Step 5

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the door jamb switch parameter in the Body Control Module Inputs data list.
  4. Disconnect each of the C1 door lock harness connectors, one at a time.

Does the scan tool display change to Inactive when any of the C1 door lock connectors are disconnected?

Go to Step 11

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect one of the C1 door lock harness connectors.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the secondary door latch switch signal circuit and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the door ajar indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Test the secondary door latch switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 16

Test the ground circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the secondary door latch switch signal circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 16

Inspect for poor connections at the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the appropriate door lock switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the body control module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Replace the appropriate door lock switch. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Replacement or Rear Door Lock Replacement .

Replace the body control module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
