HVAC Air Delivery System Check CJ4

1

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Press the front HVAC control assembly OFF button.
    • The outside temperature is displayed.
    • The blower does not run.

Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List .

  1. Press the HVAC control assembly ON button.
  2. Press the fan control switch to a medium speed.
  3. Place the temperature control to the left (blue area).
  4. Press the Front Defrost button
    • The blower runs at a medium speed.
    • The air flows from the panel outlets.
    • The A/C illuminates.
    • The engine idle speed increases.
    • The air flows from the windshield outlets
    • The engine cooling fan may operate

Place the HVAC control assembly in the VENT position

The air flows from the panel outlets.

Place the HVAC control assembly in the FLOOR position.

The air flows from the floor outlets.

Refer to Air Delivery Improper .

Place the HVAC control assembly in the Bi-Level position.

The air flows from the panel and floor outlets.

Place the HVAC control assembly in the VENT position

Outside air flows from the panel outlets

On the in the HVAC control assembly press the recirculation button

Inside air is recirculated through the panel and floor outlets

Refer to Air Delivery Improper .

Press the HVAC control assembly OFF button

    • The engine idle speed decreases.
    • The air may start to warm.

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Place the fan control switch on the HVAC control assembly to a medium speed.
  3. Place the temperature control to the left (blue area).
  4. Turn the mode selector knob to the VENT
  5. Press the A/C button.
    • The blower runs at a medium speed.
    • The air flows from the panel outlets.
    • The engine idle speed increases.
    • The compressor turns ON.
    • The air flow becomes cold.
    • The engine cooling fan may operate

On the HVAC control assembly press the FRONT DEFROST button

The air flows from the windshield vents. The air conditioning compressor will run automatically in this setting unless the outside temperature is below 40°F (4°C).

Place the HVAC control assembly in the FLOOR position.

The air flows from the floor vents.

Place the HVAC control assembly in the Bi-Level position.

The air flows from the panel and floor vents.

Place the HVAC control assembly in the DEFOG position

The air flows from the floor vents, front defroster and side window vents. The air conditioning compressor will run automatically in this setting unless the outside temperature is below 40°F (4°C).

Inside air is recirculated through the panel and floor outlets
