Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
Removal Procedure
- Remove the power window switch. Refer to
Rear Side Door Window Switch Replacement
.
- Remove the power door lock switch (if equipped). Refer to
Door Lock Switch Replacement
.
- Remove the screws from the rear door trim panel.
- Remove the rear door trim panel using J 38778
.
- Disconnect and reroute any electrical harness or connectors.
- Remove the rear door trim panel from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Important: Before installing the rear door trim panel to the rear door inner panel,
the old trim panel retainers MUST be discarded and replaced with NEW trim
panel retainers.
- Install the new trim panel retainers to the rear door trim panel.
- Connect and route the electrical connectors through the openings
in the rear door trim panel.
- Align the rear door trim panel to the rear door inner panel, guiding
the rear door handle through the trim panel.
- Install the upper edge of the rear door trim panel to the top
edge of the inner door panel, pressing down firmly until the rear door trim
panel is fully seated.
- Install the rear door trim panel pressing firmly until the retainer
clips are fully seated around the perimiter of the trim panel.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws to
the rear door trim panel.
Tighten
Tighten the rear door trim panel screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the power door lock switch (if equipped). Refer to
Door Lock Switch Replacement
.
- Install the power window switch. Refer to
Rear Side Door Window Switch Replacement
.
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Rendezvous

- Remove the screws from the rear door trim panel.
- Use
J 38778
in order to remove the rear door trim panel .
- Disconnect and reroute any electrical harness or connectors.
- Remove the rear door trim panel.
Installation Procedure
Important: Before installing the rear door trim panel, discard the old trim panel retainers and replace with NEW trim panel retainers.
- Install the new trim panel retainers to the rear door trim panel.
- Connect and route the electrical connectors through the openings in the trim panel.
- Align the trim panel to the inner panel, guiding the door handle through the trim panel.
- Install the upper edge of the trim panel to the top edge of the inner door panel. Press down firmly until the trim panel is fully seated.
- Install the trim panel pressing firmly until the retainer clips are fully seated around the perimeter of the trim panel.
