The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some 2004 Buick Rendezvous customers may report that their UM8 Navigation radio displays XM channel zero with no audio and they are unable to change XM channels. Furthermore; the XM DRR may have a current U1000 DTC stored and the navigation radio may have been recently replaced or serviced for another issue. Engineering has determined there is a software issue in the UM8 radio.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Technicians are to replace the radio with a touch screen navigation unit part number 15229837 which can be obtained from their local Authorized Electronic Service Center or Specmo Enterprises in Madison Heights, Michigan. Specmo's telephone numbers are (248) 307-2570 or (800) 545-7911.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
