- Install a NEW oil pan gasket. If you are installing the rear main bearing cap, apply sealer to both sides of
the crankshaft rear main bearing cap (1). Refer to
Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
for the correct part number. Press sealer into gap using a putty knife
- Install the oil pan.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the oil pan bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the oil pan side bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- With the aid of an assistant position the cradle under the vehicle, and place an adjustable jack under one side and have the assistant support the other
side.
- Install the cradle bolts.
Tighten
• | Tighten the front cradle bolts to 155 N·m (114 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the rear cradle bolts to 240 N·m (177 lb ft). |
- Install the transaxle mount to cradle nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).
- Install the retainers that secure the brake line to the frame.
- Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to the oil pressure sensor.
- Install the starter. Refer to
Starter Motor Replacement
.
- Install the transaxle brace, if equipped with RPO M15.
- Install the transaxle brace bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).
- Install the transaxle brace, if equipped with RPO M76.
- Install the transaxle brace bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 43 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Position the A/C compressor and install the A/C compressor bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
Important: Align the ball stud cotter pin hole parallel to the knuckle in order to ease the cotter pin installation.
- Install the ball stud to the knuckle.
- Install the ball stud nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 55 N·m (40 lb ft).
Important: Do not loosen the ball stud nut in order to align the ball stud nut slots to the ball stud cotter pin hole.
- If necessary, tighten the ball stud nut in order to align the ball stud nut slot (1) to the ball stud cotter pin hole (2) as shown.
Important: Ensure that the cotter pin ends do not contact the ABS sensor connector or the drive axle.
- Install a NEW cotter pin and bend the ends as shown in either direction.
- Install the engine harness clips for the wheel speed sensor to the right lower control arm.
- Install the oil filter and fill the crankcase. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
.
- Install the right side engine mount. Refer to
Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side
.
- Remove the engine support fixture.
