Water Pump Replacement RPO LX9

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 909611 Size: SH
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  4. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
  5. Remove the water pump pulley.

  6. Remove the water pump bolts.
  7. Remove the water pump.
  8. Remove and discard the water pump gasket.
  9. Clean the water pump mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 909615 Size: SH
  1. Install a NEW water pump gasket onto the water pump.
  2. Install the water pump.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the water pump bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Install the water pump pulley.
  5. Install the water pump pulley bolts until snug.
  6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  7. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.

EN 46104 Water Pump Pulley Holding Tool

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1412158 Size: SH
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  3. Install the EN 46104 onto the water pump pulley.

    4. Object Number: 1412160 Size: SH
  4. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
  5. Remove the water pump pulley.

    6. Object Number: 1412162 Size: SH
  6. Remove the water pump bolts.
  7. Remove the water pump.
  8. Remove and discard the water pump gasket.
  9. Clean the water pump sealing surfaces.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1412162 Size: SH
  1. Place a NEW water pump gasket onto the water pump.
  2. Install the water pump.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the water pump bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 1412160 Size: SH
  4. Install the water pump pulley.
  5. Install the water pump pulley bolts until snug.

    6. Object Number: 1412158 Size: SH
  6. Install the EN 46104 onto the water pump pulley.
  7. Using the EN 46104 in order to hold the water pump pulley, tighten the water pump pulley bolts.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
