Personalization features may be set for the vehicle or the driver. Vehicle features do not change with each driver. Specific drivers are recognized by the vehicle through the keyless entry transmitters, the memory buttons, or the driver information center (DIC), and the personalization settings for that driver are recalled.
Press and hold the season odometer reset for greater than 3 seconds. If the vehicle is in PARK the instrument panel cluster (IPC) will send a class 2 message to the body control module (BCM). Upon receipt of this class 2 message the IPC illuminates the program mode indicator in the message center. This indicator remains illuminated until the IPC receives a class 2 message from the BCM to turn this indicator off or the IPC receives a class 2 message from the powertrain control module (PCM) indicating vehicle speed is present.
During vehicle startup the IPC sends a class 2 message to the BCM indicating it is an uplevel cluster. When the DIC is in the Personalization menu and the vehicle is in PARK the IPC sends a class 2 message to the BCM if the Set button is pressed on the DIC. Upon receipt of the class 2 message from the BCM the cluster shall activate the program mode indicator in the message center. The IPC will also receive a class 2 message from the BCM indicating which message shall be displayed. Then any time the mode or the set button is pressed the IPC sends a class 2 message to the BCM. The IPC continues to display the message requested by the BCM until the BCM commands OFF or the IPC receives a class 2 message indicating the vehicle is moving. The IPC exits from personalization and returns to the top of the menu that displays the temperature and compass. The IPC also turns OFF the program mode indicator.
