When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
One of the first places to check when looking for an intermittent electrical concern on any 2003 Pontiac Aztek or Buick Rendezvous is the Under hood Electrical Center. This condition may be the result of under-torque for the wiring harness retaining bolts. Some field reports indicate that the under hood accessory wiring junction block may not be fully seated into the harness connectors at the prescribed torque for the 2003 models. This might result in intermittent fuel pump relay or starter relay operation along with other electrical concerns.
The torque on the four attachment bolts should be checked as illustrated on Service Information document number ID 631390. If these attachments are found loose, the terminals should be inspected for bent or damaged terminal ends before reassembly. The torque specification was also increased to 5.5 +/- 1N·m(48.6 lb in). This torque specification change was made in production with VIN number 3S569676 at the assembly plant.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
