Subject:Rear Hatch Release Operation after BCM Replacement

Models:.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

Rear hatch will not release from interior hatch button or key Fob after BCM replacement.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Vehicle operation will change after BCM replacement making it necessary to have ALL doors unlocked prior to pressing the IP or key fob button for endgate release. When using the RKE, hit unlock button twice, then press endgate release.

In January, 2003, a running production change was made to eliminate the IP endgate release button and instead have a release integral to the endgate handle similar to system in minivans.

This new operational characteristic will differ from what is written in the owner manual.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
