When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Outside air temperature displayed is inaccurate from last start-up.
If a vehicle listed seems to have an inaccurate outside temperature displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIC) or Automatic Air Condition control panel, the following may help to understand its operation. According to SI, under- Body - Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console --- Driver Information Center (DIC) Description and Operation: The DIC or HVAC displays the ambient air temperature value that it receives through the IPC. The ambient air temperature updates and displays under the following conditions:

The Ambient Air Temperature Sensor is located near and forward of the hood latch bracket (see SI document 1382451). Use a trouble-light or heat gun to warm sensor, and connect the vehicle to a speed signal generator to simulate a vehicle speed above 32 mph. Monitor the temperature display update for 3-5 minutes and if it changes, it is working normal and no repairs should be made.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
