Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side Disc
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.
- Release the park brake.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Loosen the park brake cable equalizer nut in order to remove the park brake left side cable from the park
brake equalizer.
- Remove the rear park brake cable retaining nut and bolt.
- Remove the park brake cable from the park brake actuator.
Installation Procedure
- Install the park brake cable.
- Install the park brake cable to the park brake cable bracket.
- Install the park brake cable to the park brake actuator.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the rear park brake cable retaining nut and bolt.
Tighten
Tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the park brake left side cable to the park brake equalizer.
- Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to
Park Brake Adjustment
.
- Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

- Release the park brake.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to

- Loosen the park brake cable equalizer nut in
order to remove the park brake left side cable from the park brake equalizer.
- For domestic vehicles, perform the following steps.
- Remove the park brake cable from the park brake actuator.
- Use the J 37043
in
order to remove the park brake cable from the backing plate.
Installation Procedure
- Install the park brake cable to the backing plate.
- Install the park brake cable to the park brake actuator.
- Install the park brake left side cable to the park brake equalizer.
- Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to
Park Brake Adjustment
.
- Install the brake drum. Refer to
Brake Drum Replacement
in Drum Brakes.
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires
and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
